dgt test english (Direccion General de Trafico) is the body that administers driving tests and deals with licensing in Spain. Most expats go through a driving school to get their test done but you can do it without a driving school for free (whatever do it for free means).
To take the written exam you will need to pass a medical exam in a DGT authorized clinic. Your driving school can recommend a clinic or you can check on the DGT website here. This quick exam costs between EUR30 and EUR60 depending on which clinic you choose.
Overview of the DGT Test in English
Once you have passed the medical and written exams your school will book you for the practical test. This is the last step in getting your permit and you will need to pass it before you can drive on the road. Your school should give you a lift to and from the test center.
For the exam you will need a valid drivers license from your country of origin and a Spanish resident card. During the exam you will be asked 30 questions and must get 27 or more to pass. You can practice for this exam in a variety of ways online and with apps like the one pictured above. The DGT also has a practice test on their website. Good luck!
